This powerful square tower, built between 1295 and 1306 by Archbishop Gilles Aycelin at the south-east corner of the Palais Neuf, is 42 metres high and crowned with watchtowers, offering an exceptional view of the city. Its walls contain four rooms served by a 162-step spiral staircase: the Hemispheric Room, the Treasury Room, the King?s Chamber and the Defense Room.
