À propos
In 1903, the city acquired a former canonical house at the foot of the cathedral. An architectural competition was launched to create a hotel for the Caisse d'Epargne. The project also aimed to regularize one side of Place Jeanne-Mance, clear the south side of the cathedral and provide direct access to the cloister.
The winner, Dijon architect Charles Danne, took advantage of the building's location at the corner of the square to accentuate its imposing character. The abundant decor is a compilation of different earlier styles: Renaissance, Baroque and Classical.
