Les Halles

📍 Les Riceys, Aube · Place des héros de la résistance, 10340 Les Riceys
À propos
Situated on the Place des Héros de la Résistance, the market hall is a landmark of Les Riceys.
The current building was probably constructed in the 18th century, but older walls dating back to the 17th century suggest an earlier commercial construction.

For several decades, the covered market was a central feature of Les Riceys. Once a hardware store, a bakery
a bakery, an upholsterer, a pharmacy, a hotel and a drugstore surrounded
this hall. All the inhabitants of Les Riceys loved to gather on the square for the daily market or for larger festivities such as the Foire du Grand Jeudi. Introduced during the First Empire, this fair took place every year on the Thursday before Easter, and featured the display and sale of goods linked to the work of the vine and the wine
and wine-growing.

Today, the market hall is still an essential building in Ricey-Haut, hosting numerous events
events such as the Route du Champagne, wine fairs and weddings.

The architecture of the hall has been listed by the Monuments Historiques since 1980.
