In 1942, faced with the Allies in North Africa, Hitler ordered the construction of the Mediterranean Wall. Of the hundred or so bunkers built in Agde, 30 remain at La Tamarissière.
Bunker 638, a 220 m² German field hospital, was used to care for wounded soldiers. Bunker 610 was the command post of the La Tamarissière battery.
