At the end of a school day, a French teacher is approached by a man who has entered the classroom. Who is he, and what is he looking for? During a tense exchange between the two men, the mystery unravels as they discuss Jean, who has disappeared and whose absence haunts the scene. What was the nature of the relationship between this teacher and this twenty-year-old boy that would lead this man—who claims to be his father—to turn the conversation into an interrogation? With its precise and nuanced writing, *Dear Prudence* takes care not to reveal everything. Presented in a lighthearted theatrical format designed to be performed in community theaters as well as in schools, this play leaves plenty of room for doubt and uncertainty, while maintaining a certain suspense.
