Eglise Saint-Laurent de Meuse
À propos
Saint-Laurent church features a late 12th-century nave. Its particularity lies in the fact that the edifice changed its orientation in 1837, as attested by the commemorative stone placed when the western portal was modified. This necessitated extensive remodeling: the choir was demolished and rebuilt on the other side, the nave vaults were removed, and the walls were raised and a false barrel vault installed. Built of sandstone and elongated in plan, the Meuse church today comprises a single nave covered by a false barrel vault, a tower-porch crowned by a slate spire, two secondary chapels and a choir covered by a false cupola.
