À propos
Built on the city's ancient ramparts, the municipal museum offers visitors an itinerary based on four main themes:

- Archaeology and the treasure trove of three tombs of Frankish chieftains discovered in St-Dizier. 90% of the collections come from local excavations, up to 30 km from the town.

- Ornithology, with over 200 birds on display, illustrating the rich fauna of Lac du Der and the Marne Valley. The collection is completed by 2,500 eggs, presented in the furniture that Jean-François Lescuyer had made for his participation in the 1848 Universal Exhibition in Paris.

- Casting art, with works by renowned artists cast in local foundries. Sculptures include those by Hector Guimard, precursor of the Art Nouveau style, Mathurin Moreau and Antoine Durenne. The museum boasts the 2nd largest collection of Guimard cast iron in the world.

- Fine arts. On the first floor, a Beaux-Arts section with 19th-century paintings can be admired. The Musée de Saint-Dizier also has two 17th-century Italian paintings, attributed to the workshop of Massimo Stanzione.

Throughout the year, the museum offers a varied program of events, workshops for young visitors and lectures.
