À propos
Cosswiller was historically attached to Romanswiller and the village of Dann, both of which disappeared during the Thirty Years' War. After the war, the village was rebuilt as a Protestant Reformed settlement. The temple was built in 1819. The condition for its construction was that it should resemble a house, not a church building. Parts of the building date from the second half of the 18th century, including the window frames and some of the door leaves, and come from the Marmoutier library. The bell tower dates from 1843. The church is believed to have replaced an earlier 12th-13th-century edifice, of which only the gate tower remained in ruins in 1820, when it was surveyed, although its exact location is unknown. The temple is rectangular in plan, with two levels of eaves windows and five bays. The interior has a ceiling, and the small bell tower at the base of the front façade rests on columns.
