Synagogue de Sedan

As you walk down Verdun Avenue, you pass a remarkable building. This one is the synagogue of Sedan. After the war of 1870, the Jewish community of the Alsace and Lorraine region migrated and took refuge in the north of France. In 1878, the synagogue is built on the plans of the architect Mazuel. Both the interior and exterior are sober, made of yellow stone from the region. A large rose window decorates the façade. Inside, the tabernacle forms an apse and contains the tables of the law. The synagogue is registered as a Historical Monument in 1984.
