Chapelle Saint Quentin d'Aiglemont
À propos
The site?s history is closely linked to the founding of Aiglemont, which once comprised four villages: Champeau, Manicourt, Gesly and Eslemont, which later became Aiglemont. The chapel dedicated to Saint-Quentin, built in the 9th century to house his relics, was replaced by a church in the 12th century, which escaped the fires of 1521. Subsequently abandoned, the chapel continued to be used as a burial ground until 1879. In 1634, a small chapel dedicated to Saint-Quentin was erected on the former shrine. Pilgrimages to Saint-Quentin, which began in 1872, lasted until the 1950s, when the site fell into ruin, degraded by time and looting.
