QUARTETTO MAGRITTE - the groove version of surrealism. Based in Paris since 2017, Quartetto Magritte are one of those groups that like to surprise the ear as much as the imagination. In six albums already, the quartet has carved out a solid reputation on the European jazz scene, playing festivals, clubs and beautiful stages all over the continent.
Like René MAGRITTE, after whom they take their name, these musicians like to move things around... sonically. Here, the accordion flirts with contemporary jazz, the guitar slides into cinema, the rhythm plays with silence, and improvisation pops up where you least expect it. The result is music that is poetic, elegant and never where you expect it to be.
Led by Maurizio MINARDI, the group cultivates a keen sense of teamwork and a taste for evocative atmospheres. In concert, QUARTETTO MAGRITTE will take you on a chic and mischievous journey of sound, combining musical seriousness with the pleasure of playing.
Formation: Maurizio MINARDI - accordion, piano & compositions (the poetic brain), Barthélemy SEYER - guitar (elegance in six strings), Maurizio CONGIU - double bass (the groove firmly anchored to the ground) and Jonathan EDO - drums & percussion (discreet but formidable energy). The good news is that they are currently working on a new album, due out in early 2026.
