À propos
The church was built between 1250 and 1310, and was restored in 1614 and again in 1869, the latter date giving it its present appearance. Dedicated to Saint-Martin, it has the particularity of being a hall church, which means that the level of its nave and its side aisles is at the same height, while usually the nave is higher than the side aisles. The exterior does not allow to dissociate the original construction, but the interior contains remarkable elements of the Alsatian Gothic architecture. It is possible to observe piers decorated with foliage, finely worked keystones, bays with two lancets... The stained glass windows date from the XIII-XIV century and come from different bays of the old building and unfortunately a good number have disappeared. Among those found there is a St. Nicholas blessing three children in a bowl, a Holy King holding a scepter and a chalice, a St. John and a flagellation of Christ. From 2006 to 2016, important restoration works were carried out and the inauguration of the building was done in the presence of Jean Louis Debré whose family is native of the village. The church is classified as a historical monument since 1997.
