À propos
The Namensstein was built in October 1896 on the occasion of the historic inauguration ceremony of the Mutzig fortress. Located in an inaccessible area of the site, it had been gradually stripped of its symbolic elements after 1918. It was moved to the public reception area in order to restore it to its original appearance and to welcome visitors to the fort with a very impressive emblematic and historical element. An identical copy of the German Imperial Eagle and the plaque "Feste Kaiser Wilhem II" were made and placed back on the monument. The two cannons at the foot of the stele have been reinstalled.
