A true prodigy of today?s choreographic scene, Leïla Ka imposes her energy on stage. Precise, urgent and dramatic, her dance is nourished by contemporary, urban and theatrical influences. Her writing provokes mountains of emotion. Leila Ka has no academic training, but soon found herself performing for Maguy Marin, then choreographing a trilogy that began in 2018. Her first solo "Pode ser" won international awards and has been performed over 200 times since its creation.
Here, she presents three short, powerful pieces, a triptych that bears witness to our inner turmoil and the difficulty of being ourselves.
Bouffées - a tableau from Maldonne - is a gripping piece about grief. With their feet firmly planted on the floor and dressed in flowery dresses, five performers link nervous, precise gestures. The breathless duet C'est toi qu'on adore explores our contradictions and existential jolts. Finally, Pode Ser is a quest for identity. A dance both warlike and romantic, full of the fury of life!
