La Croix Scaille

La Croix Scaille, the highest point in the French Ardennes at 504 metres, is on the border with Belgium. The visitor can discover the Plateau by climbing the stairs of the Millennium Tower, which dominates the place from the top of its 60 metres. It can be reached by road from Belgium or on foot from the hamlet of Les Vieux Moulins de Thilay. On a clear day, you can discover an exceptional panorama of the Ardennes forest, Belgian and French, over a radius of about 100 km. The word ""scaille"" reminds us that we are in slate country, where the scailleteux used to extract the rock.
