Le vallon du Silberthal

In the heart of the forest, the Silberthal valley contains numerous iron and silver-lead veins (mined mainly from the 15th to the end of the 17th century). With almost 200 mining works, the valley has seen many changes since it was first mined around 1250, and was finally closed in 1905. Today, in addition to its mining riches, the valley offers visitors an unspoilt natural environment of forest and waterfalls. Mining trails and tours of the Saint Nicolas Mine (April to October) enable visitors to discover the archaeological riches and follow in the footsteps of the miners.
