Lycée Montaigne

In May 1909, the city council decided to build a girls' high school worthy of the city on the site of the former slaughterhouse. The desire to protect the building from noise and dust led the architects to choose a square plan and to position the corridors on the street side. Two entrances were created, the most monumental one facing the rue de Metz. This majestic building in cut stone and brick, decorated with sculptures and a turret with its clock surmounting a terrace with balustrades, was completed in 1912. This building is not open to visitors.
