"BBR" de Louisa Babari

Born in Moscow to a Russian mother and Algerian father, Louisa Babari grew up in Moscow and Algiers. Her artistic practice activates forms and discourses linked to aesthetic and social changes in former socialist countries, struggles for resistance and independence, the exploration of her family archives, phenomena of displacement and questions linked to the body, architecture, literature and translation.

The title of the exhibition, "BBR", derives from the artist's research in Algeria. By tracing the paths of the Babari tribe, or "BBR" on certain steles, she symbolically retraces the history of its name, Babari, which is rooted in the Numidian territory of the Aurès, in Algeria.
