Chapelle Saint-Roch

📍 Fumay, Ardennes · Place du Baty, 08170 Fumay
À propos
At the end of the Place du Bâty, you'll find the Chapelle St Roch: The legend of the Chapelle St Roch As a plague epidemic devastated the town, the magistrate of the time implored St Roch and vowed to erect a chapel in his honor if it ceased. The miracle happened, and the chapel was built in 1662. In addition to the well-known legend of St. Roch and his dog, a Fumacian legend recounts that young girls of marriageable age would kiss the nail fixed to the door of the chapel, thinking of their loved one, and if the wedding was not celebrated within the year, it would take place 7 years later (the length of military service in those days). The chapel is only visible from the outside.
