Created in 1970, the Association des Amis des Sites de Mesquer is one of the largest and oldest environmental protection associations in Loire-Atlantique. Today, the association has over 400 paid-up members.
The association is very active in protecting the sites of the commune and the region. It also promotes the development of salt production in Mesquer. To this end, it organizes visits to a working salt works.
Another of its ambitions is to help visitors discover the richness of the commune?s natural and architectural heritage. She is fighting against the invasion of an invasive plant: Baccharis.
Activities organized by the Association :
- saltworks tours (summer) rue des Cap Horniers (crossroads with allée des paludiers), daily from 4pm to 7pm, duration 30 minutes, no reservation required.
This tour provides a good understanding of the traditional production technique for hand-harvested salt. Very accessible, it's well suited to children, with a little game for them.
- butterfly discovery activities (summer), daily 10am-12pm, registration required (on our website or directly at the saltworks tour chalet).
