Prehistoric fishing
The aim of this workshop is to re-create most of the tools and instruments used for freshwater fishing from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic period, thus providing an insight into the many techniques used in prehistoric times.
We'll be making nets, evoking spinning and wickerwork, creels - the oldest known wickerwork objects - and bone and shell hooks, leading to the use of flint tools. We'll also be using clay to make pots for cooking our catch, as one day we'll be testing our products. Time will be set aside for those wishing to give presentations on their current research, or to take part in talks on prehistory and archaeology in general
