The Monts d'Orb dam is an arch dam located in Avène. Built from 1959 to 1963 by the Compagnie du Bas-Rhône-Languedoc, it is mainly used to irrigate the plains of the Biterrois and to supply drinking water to the west of the Hérault and the south of the Aude. It is equipped for hydroelectric production and allows floods to be curbed during strong thunderstorms.
