The Tarbais Bean Red Label is a climbing plant that is supported by corn or net stakes
The harvesting has been carried out exclusively by hand for more than two centuries in order to preserve the quality of the beans
Harvesting is carried out from bottom to top, pod by pod. Harvesting takes place from the beginning of September to mid-November. Once the harvest has left the field, the producer sheds the crop on his farm before delivering the seeds to an authorised workshop for sorting and packaging with a view to labelling his production. Seasonal manpower requirements are around 15 to 20 people for 3 days to harvest 1 ha of Tarbais Beans.
