Exposition "La lenga de Nosta..."

The result of a partnership between the Maison de la culture occitane (MCO) and the Hautes Pyrénées département (Service de la culture occitane et territoires, Archives départementales), the "La lenga de Nosta" exhibition aims to evoke the origins of the Occitan language, its use over the centuries and the way it still permeates our lives, bearing witness to its dynamism (toponymy, expressions of language, etc.).

The language of the "country" was spoken and written for centuries, but 20th-century generations gradually abandoned it.
They were inculcated with the "shame" of speaking patois, which contributed to the end of family transmission.
Today, however, it is taught in schools and is enjoying a resurgence of interest across all generations. This is due in no small part to the voluntary action taken by the Département since 1992.

This exhibition features three themes:
- Hèits d?Istòria (historical facts)
- Eth bigordan (the Bigordan language)
- La practica actuau de la lengua (The practice of language today)
