Lourdes still has, even today, many testimonies of its past. The fountains are a perfect example
The oldest of them is undoubtedly the fountain with the Three Spouts (or holes), authenticated in the municipal archives since the Middle Ages. This fountain, located in the rue de la Fontaine, was fed by a spring located under the fortified castle. Later, during the 19th century, other fountains were installed in the town centre. Anselme Lacadé, Mayor at the time of the Apparitions, had the Marcadal fountain built (Place du Marcadal) and then the Porche fountain (Av. du Général Baron Maransin - on the left before the railway bridge).
