The Gardon d'Alès rises at St Maurice de Ventalon in Lozère, at an altitude of around 800 metres. It flows for 55 km, 34 of which are in the Gard, before joining Cassagnoles and the other Gardons to form the Gard, which flows into the Rhône at Comps.
