À propos
Carcassonne's Musée des beaux-arts has been awarded the "Musée de France" label and opens its doors to you!
Housed in the former Présidial building, opposite Square Gambetta, Carcassonne?s Musée des Beaux-Arts offers a haven of sensitive charm, a richly flavored ensemble that lovers of paintings and history can discover in the museum?s ten rooms devoted to the permanent collections.
Permanent exhibitions: From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Western painting is illustrated by works by François Perrier, Lanfranco, Pretti, Van Goyen, Morelsee, Teniers, Rigaud, Chardin, as well as Corot and Courbet or, closer to home, Marquet and Morellet. Contemporary works (mid-20th and 21st centuries) also have their place, with artists such as Klasen, Morellet, Joulet, Keribar, Bricq, Poliakoff and Shangti. A fine collection of old earthenware and porcelain (Moustiers, Marseille?) and objets d?art complete the visit.
Throughout the year, the Musée des Beaux-Arts offers a series of art history lectures on specific themes.
Temporary exhibitions :
On the second floor of this historic building, a special area is dedicated to temporary exhibitions. Each year, the Musée des beaux-arts presents a thematic summer exhibition. In winter, a special area in the heart of the museum, Le Petit Salon, is dedicated to exploring a work from the collections.
The Musée des Beaux-arts is closed on public holidays except Easter Monday and August 15.
