Île Sainte-Catherine, in the heart of the Vienne river at Châtellerault, is a natural site rich in biodiversity, maintained by the Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO) since 2003.
A former poplar plantation, the island is home to a wide variety of vegetation, as well as numerous bird species and rare plants.
Its location makes it an ideal spot for wildlife observation (including kingfishers and beaver tracks).
