La Crypte du Bayaà
📍 Salies-de-Béarn, Pyrénées-Atlantiques
· Place du Bayaà, 64270 Salies-de-Béarn
À propos
Formerly a place of drawing in the open air, the basin was covered with a vault in the 19th century and since then, this crypt was completely filled with salt water.
After the evacuation of this salt water and major works, the crypt can now be visited. This descent under what has become the main square of Salies-de-Béarn allows you to enter a space where the play of light highlights a construction never revealed until now.
It is also an opportunity to evoke the history linked to the exploitation of salt water for more than 3000 years.
