The chapel was built around 1500 for Vautrin Lud, canon of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges and Master General of the Mines of Lorraine, next to the farm with gardens and vineyards he owned. The building was originally intended to keep plague victims away from the town.
It comprises a rectangular nave with one window and a hexagonal choir with 4 windows, one of which was bricked up when Claude Bassot's altarpiece was installed. The walls are supported by 8 buttresses, and the nave is cross-vaulted. The keystone bears the chapter's coat of arms, "Or, a bend azure charged with 3 roses gules".
The chapel is maintained and enhanced by the Jardins de la Chapelle Saint-Roch association. Regular events and concerts are held here.
