Gazon du Faing

The Gazon du Faing is a vast granite peak in the Vosges massif, culminating at 1,306 m, located on the ridge between the Col du Bonhomme and the Col de la Schlucht. It is the highest point in the Saint-Dié-des-Vosges conurbation. A former high pastoral thatch, it offers remarkable panoramic views over the Orbey and Munster valleys, and on clear days over the Black Forest, Jura and Alps.

As part of the Tanet-Gazon du Faing national nature reserve, the site is home to exceptional sub-alpine environments (moors, peat bogs, high-altitude beech forests) and protected mountain fauna and flora, making the Gazon du Faing a major part of the Vosges natural heritage.
