À propos
On the heights of Thionville, the current district of Guentrange, an old village, dominates. Memory of the wine activity, the wine press blends with the houses of modern architects. It bears witness to an important economic and social reality. It stands out with its oversized beams and its millimetre-sized mechanism. 9.60 metres long and 4 metres high, a giant! The first known mention of a wine press dates back to 1468, the Burgundian period. It was then entrusted to the burghers and winegrowers of Thionville. This so-called tilting press uses a well-established system dating back to Roman times. Proof of ancient ingenuity! Its carcass will impress you as much as the view it offers.
