The Maginot Line didn't just consist of large, gun-toting structures. To protect these men from bombardment, shelters were built. There were two types: deep-buried cave shelters, and surface shelters like this one. Designed to house 52 men, this shelter is equipped with a power station for light and ventilation, a coal-fired stove, an infirmary, a telephone exchange and a filter room. Most of this equipment is still in working order. Dates for the opening of the shelter in 2025 will be available in February on the website of the Association de la Ligne Maginot de Cattenom et Environs.
