A former seigneury of the Bishops of Verdun, Château d'Hattonchâtel was built by Bishop Hatton in the 9th century. It is one of Lorraine?s most historic landmarks. It suffered the ravages of various wars before being restored by an American woman, Mrs. Skinner. Situated on a promontory overlooking the Woëvre plain, the ensemble offers an impression of balance, authenticity and serene beauty.
