À propos
Considered one of Saint-Dizier?s oldest historic districts, La Noue was once a suburb named after Olonna (river), inhabited by winegrowers and ?brelleurs?, bargemen who transported goods up the Marne to Paris.

The Saint-Martin church, built on the banks of the Marne, bears witness to this past activity, which made the district rich. Destroyed in 1544, it was rebuilt in wood and then stone in the 17th century.

Among its curiosities are the Renaissance-style side portal and the hundred or so obituary inscriptions engraved on the walls, dating from the 17th century. These commemorate an anniversary mass for the repose of the soul of a deceased person, and were donated by prominent members of the town or trade guilds (wheelwrights, coopers, bargemen, etc.).
