À propos
Nogent is a very old town, as evidenced by the vestiges of the past that have survived the centuries and wars: the Celtic Dolmens, the 12th-century Romanesque church of Saint-Germain de Nogent le Bas, the Donjon, the Chemin de Ronde, the medieval underground passageways proving the existence of a fortified castle inhabited by Thibaut IV, Count of Champagne, and the Monument des Mobiles commemorating the 1870 War.
The town is known the world over for its "art" of cutlery, which began in the 14th century with manual forging and stone grinding, and was named "Queen of Cutlery" in the 18th century for its impeccably finished products. But the company has also looked to the future with innovative cutting-edge technologies in the automotive and aeronautics industries, and in the manufacture of bicycles, weapons and microsurgical instruments, notably orthopedic implants (prostheses, ancillaries, etc.).
