Cemetery cross erected in 1806 "in devotion to François Pittolet and Nicole Flocard, his wife". The history of this family and the probable reason for their "investment" is original. The couple married in Aubigny on February 8, 1790. Sixteen years later, they had still not managed to have a child... which, unfortunately, they never did. The lack of offspring was catastrophic at the time: how could they run the vineyards without the arms of sons and sons-in-law? François and Nicole (also named Colette) died within a few months of each other, on November 10, 1851 and March 29, 1852, at the ages of 88 and 90. Their deaths were witnessed by their nephews...
