À propos
An integral part of the original 13th-century ramparts, it is the only vestige of the Porte de la Voie de l'Eau, which in the Middle Ages marked the south-western entrance to the town. The Tour d'Arse, which housed the town's arsenal, once faced another tower that no longer exists. A dry moat and portcullis completed the defensive system. No longer of military importance, it was converted into a bakery before being acquired and restored by the town of Chaumont. Inside, a superb wooden framework crowns the building.
