Maison des Carmélites
À propos
Built in 1590, this beautiful bourgeois residence was given to the Carmelites when the convent was founded in 1623. The nuns lived here until 1792. In the 19th century, the former convent housed the prefecture. Over the years, the house fell into disrepair and became a hardware depot, before being acquired in 1982 by the town of Chaumont, which abandoned it. In 2004, Mrs Dominique WIEDERKEHR purchased the ruin and restored this historic home, which opened its beautiful meeting and exhibition rooms to the public in 2006.
