AUBERIVE

The village of Auberive grew up around its Cistercian abbey (24th daughter of Clairvaux), founded in 1135 on the banks of the Aube. Originally, it was simply a group of converses working for the abbey. The entire population (craftsmen, service personnel, employees, etc.) was directly dependent on the seigneury and full justice of the abbot of Auberive.
