Rue du Marché

The house located at the intersection of Rue du Marché and Rue du Maréchal Lefèbvre was rescinded at the beginning of the last century when it was aligned. The town took the opportunity to insert as a loan the beautiful Renaissance gate dated 1616 that it had acquired from a former neighbouring property. The beautiful Renaissance well from 1579, the work of Franz Baur, was also placed there, bearing the inscription: "Der Gast oft teur mich Kopf beim Wirt komm her zu mir ich schenk dir d'Yrt" (The guest often buys me expensively from the innkeeper. Come here to my house, I offer you the drink). If you turn right into the Rue du Maréchal Lefèbvre, you follow the former course of the Ohmbach, which is now covered and which delimited the former core of Rouffach.
