Place Jean-Jacques Schmalzer

Place Jean-Jacques Schmaltzer, named after one of the three founders of the first Indian factory in Mulhouse in 1746, is lined with R+2+C type buildings, built from the end of the 19th century and similar to those found in many parts of the city. These dwellings, in strip buildings, all identical except for the plaster decoration on the facade, are an alternative to the houses of the nearby Cité, too expensive for some workers.
