À propos
Tobias Rehberger has positioned a former Mulhouse tram station from the 1950s near the fire station, which has a dilapidated appearance, deliberately aged by the artist. Using a jackhammer, he demolished corners, made the iron rods of the frame appear in places. The artist wanted to make a beautiful ruin of it, an imaginary remnant of an old tramway line. The rest is to be done by passers-by, the inhabitants of the neighbourhood who have to make it their own. This is why today this "station" is sometimes covered with tags or posters stuck on, as Tobias Rehberger wanted it to be. With this work, the artist criticizes the demolition of certain traces of the past, which for him should remain in the collective environment.
