The Doller, the "stream of stones", which flowed north of the town, has played an important role since the Middle Ages, when it was used to drive the numerous mills. From the beginning of the 19th century, it made the fortune of industrialists who used the exceptional quality of its waters for the bleaching and dyeing of fabrics.
