In 1870, the SACM replaced the primitive André Koechlin et Cie factory (created in 1826). The SACM had up to 5,000 employees in 1952. Opposite the entrance is the site of the former private bridge of the SACM, demolished in 2010, which gave access to the plant and served the wood depot on de Galfingue Street.
