Cité Drouot

In order to meet the demand for housing and provide work for the many unemployed workers, the socialist mayor Auguste Wicky embarked on a policy of major works. In 1930, this resulted in the construction of 812 dwellings in four-storey buildings with balconies on the garden side and corbelled stairwells. Playgrounds, public parks and gardens were laid out for each tenant. The programme includes the construction of baths, a dispensary, a nursery, a festival hall, a library and a school group.
