Conceived by the French Ministry of Culture and coordinated by La Villette, the Micro-Folie is an innovative cultural concept that reinvents the encounter with art, heritage and creation. It is based on a digital museum providing access to the treasures of major regional, national and international institutions.
The Micro-Folie, housed in the Espace Liberté multimedia library, is an artistic and cultural education tool based on digital technology: making thousands of major works from major national museums such as the Louvre accessible, a little like an art gallery, but much more interactive, with activities, games, workshops and encounters. Fine art, architecture, dance, opera, circus? an exceptional choice of themes to be explored through animations such as "How do you read a work?" or "1 work in 30 minutes", and workshops such as "Make your coat of arms", "The royal herbarium", as well as more specific themes such as "Animals in art" or "The representation of fear".
Workshops are led by cultural service staff, a youth worker and, occasionally, guest speakers. Virtual reality headsets will take you on a journey to ancient Greece and Egypt. You'll also be able to enter some of the world's masterpieces, and see figures such as the Mona Lisa come to life, thanks to content provided by ARTE.
Last but not least, the Micro-Folie also features a Fab lab, where you can learn how to use digital tools such as 3D printers, cutting plotters, thermoforming machines, heat presses, coding/robotics kits and more
