Château d'eau

The water tower was used to regulate the distribution of drinking water in Colmar, provided from July 1884 by the municipal plants. It is the work of the Swiss engineer Henri Grüner and the town architect Jean-Baptiste-Victor Huen. Its tower, characteristic of the German neo-gothic style, is installed on one of the highest points of the city. It has been part of the Colmar landscape since 1886. With a height of 53 meters, the water tower had a capacity of 1200 m3. Disused since 1984, it remains the oldest preserved water tower in Alsace.
