À propos
Popularly known as the "Witches' Tower", this is the former low gate (Niedertor) opening the eastern flank of the first wall (1216) towards Strasbourg.
The upper floors were used as prisons, particularly in the 17th century, for "witches" before their execution.
In 1774, the first floor housed a salpêtrière and an equipment depot for the fortifications department.
Visible from outside only.
