An emblematic monument of the city, it has fulfilled a triple function: city belfry, watchtower, bell tower of the Chapel of the Virgin (built around 1285, demolished in 1873) of which the Gothic choir remains. The gallery with its watchtowers was added in 1596, with a 59.60 m high spire.
